About Greendiet.com
The green diet is a holistic and natural approach toward optimal human health and lifestyle. It is a system that gets us back to our roots and connected with the same earth in which we came. It is simple and especially suited for those with demanding lifestyles like athletes, entrepreneurs, professionals and those suffering from inflammatory diseases.
About me:
My name is Steve Steele and I am passionate about optimal human health, technology, medicinal cannabis and Jiu Jitsu. I hold a Masters degree in Industrial Psychology – which is the psychology of work and human performance. While I was attending graduate school I was diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease called Ulcerative Colitis. Dealing with the IBD diagnosis and disease was the hardest thing I have experienced and sent me into a downward spiral. My life went from the happy healthy guy in his early 20’s to quite the sad guy isolated in pain, fatigue and depression. I soon became a shell of my former self and my friends and family grew very concerned.
I was in a very dark place and made a promise to myself and my classmates that once I found a way to overcome this affliction I would share it with the world. After landing in the hospital several times from blood loss and malnutrition I was seriously looking at surgery to have my ulcerated bowels removed. I was getting to the end of my rope and every day was filled with suffering. Instead of my happy and healthy normal self I was constantly sick, fatigued and anemic. My skin turned a ghastly white and I lost nearly 30 pounds. When I got out of a week long stint in the hospital, I again told myself I needed to persevere and keep looking for a solution out there that could help facilitate my healing process.
I began researching all I could to try and eat as healthy as humanly possible. The goal was to to give my leaky, sore guts a fighting chance at absorbing some nutrition and healing. Meanwhile my doctor insisted diet had nothing to do with IBD… My gut told me otherwise (pun intended). I soon found out that grains, legumes and dairy werent the nutritional superstars our government told us they were – rather they are a factor in many diseases and ailments! I began eating mostly Paleo after reading the likes of Mark Sisson -author of “The Paleo Blueprint”, Robb Wolf – author of “The Paleo Solution” and Johnny Bowden – author of “150 Healthiest Foods on Earth”. Slowly but surely my guts began to heal and the life returned to me. I was able to work full time as well as return to training Jiu Jitsu, running, lifting weights etc. My trips to the bathroom went from 20+ painful emergency runs to a single peaceful morning trip. The depression, pain, fatigue, spasms and blood loss gave way to vibrant health, energy and happiness. My weight, muscle and healthy mind returned in spectacular fashion as I soon became physically and mentally stronger than I ever was. It was indeed a miracle and some days I am still in disbelief.
I am now in my mid 20’s and in very good health. Every day of good health feels like a blessing and I am grateful to be alive. My disease is under control by utilizing natural green methods instead of relying on expensive and unnatural pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical treatments often mask the underlying problem and do not treat the real issue which is the underlying inflammation. The standard American diet ultimately will result in inflammation due to the focus on processed foods, grains and dairy. Anti inflammatory foods are natural ones and especially consist of green plant matter. Green leafy vegetables, natural plant oils and extracts help to keep me not just well, but in excellent health.
As a society we are obsessed with hard work and producing the best goods we can. However, how can we produce optimally if we are not properly maintaining the machine? Ancient civilizations, cavemen, past generations etc. knew this, why don’t we? In a modern stress filled lifestyle it is even more important to provide our machine with the best fuel, maintenance and rest. If we fail to do this, it is just like neglecting to change the oil in ones car – there will be some drastic consequences.
It’s about time we began to honor our body which is the temple we were blessed with.
